PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION

As parents, you are the primary educators of your children in the faith—the parish school of religion will assist you this year. We begin a new school year again under the direction of Jovanna Brackett-Oetinger. Fr. Ruben Ortiz will be the priest-chaplain. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:15—7:30pm in the Elementary School. (A change this year—we will meet in the Elementary Commons instead of the Church for the first 15 minutes of class.) Classes will begin on Wed. Sept. 3rd — this introductory class is for parents and students and will include filling out registration forms, student and family information, as well as explanation of policies and other pertinent information. We are excited for this new year, please join us.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Classes for those interested in becoming Catholic or Catholics who are interested in knowing more about the faith are invited to attend RCIA classes. They will be held each Wed. 6:30—7:45pm in the Elementary School. Classes will end at Easter. The first class begins Wed. Sept 3rd. No need to register, come to the first class and we will have registration. For more information call the rectory.

Friday Morning Church Cleaning

FRIDAY MORNING CHURCH CLEANING (about 45 minutes on Friday mornings).
We are looking for someone to volunteer as the coordinator for the weekly church cleaning crew. It would include making sure there are cleaning supplies available and coordi-nating the volunteers. You do not have to be present every Friday. If you are interested or need more information please call the rectory.

Bus trip to Tiller’s Clinic and Lord’s Diner

On Saturday, September 6th, our parish will make a pilgrimage to Wichita to pray the rosary at Tiller’s Abortion Clinic. We will travel on our new air conditioned school bus driven by Tom Compton. The Diocese of Wichita assigns a specific Saturday to each parish to join in praying the rosary at Tiller's Abortion Clinic in Wichita. Our assigned Saturday is September 6th, although parishioners are welcome to join together to pray the rosary on any first Saturday throughout the year. Our pilgrimage will include a visit to The Lord's Diner to see and participate in our diocesan stewardship to help feed the homeless as well as those in need. We will volunteer at the Diner as well. Our parish is providing the transportation free of charge, so the only cost to you will be your lunch. Please join us! To reserve a seat on the bus, call the rectory at 231-2135. For questions call Debbie Clawson at 249-1579 or Janice Dellasega at 231-7532. The tentative schedule for the day is as follows:

5:30AM –Board bus at Fieldhouse parking lot.

9-10:30AM Pray rosary at Tiller’s clinic led by Wichita priest. Other parishes will also be present.

11:00AM-1:00PM Lunch and travel time.

1:00-2:30PM-Tour Lord’s Diner and volunteer.

6:00PM-Arrive back in Pittsburg
